Hi! My name is Haruhi! I'm the guide for this blog. Basically, my job is to narrate on this blog from a third person's view. Ubaydah's pretty busy to write on this blog himself so I'm going to do all the writings instead. はじめまして!
A lot of people especially family members and friends in Malaysia are wondering what Ubaydah's doing right now, so I'm going to tell you....
He's currently working in a research lab in his school (California State Polytechnic University, Pomona) with his Master's supervisor. Oh yeah, he's also starting his Master degree next Fall (end of September 2010) in Biological Science. In addition, he's also going to work as a teaching associate (TA) next Fall. He's going to teach BIO 115 lab which is basic Biology for non-Bio students. He said that he's pretty nervous about it, but I think he's going to be okay since he's tutored that subject before. But I guess tutoring and teaching are two different things so hopefully he would do fine. がんばって!!!
I'm going to mention a little bit about his research. Basically, he's working with C. elegans (a type of nematode worms) and he's trying to map a gene that suppresses a mutation in the worms itself. That's one of the things he's currently working on.
Here's a picture of the worms he's working on:

The worms are not like you would imagine right? He gets this all the time, hehe... These worms are about 1 mm long and can only be seen clearly under the microscope.
Here's a picture of his workstation:
Pretty cool huh?
Here is where the worms are kept:
The worms are kept in petri dishes/plates and are stored generally in a 20 degrees celcius incubator. The worms crawl on agar made by him and his lab-mates.
The picture above is the plate making schedule. See his name up there! ^_^
And those are his lab-mates by the way.
Let me show you around Ubaydah's campus:
The picture above is the College of Science, the building where Ubaydah works.
The picture above is the quad area where students meet and hang out.
The picture above is the area near the Bronco Student Center. Did you notice the 'Bunga Raya' on the left of the picture?
The picture above is the university gymnasium.
I guess that's it for tonight! I'll be updating this blog soon enough with new stuff to tell! If you noticed, I sometimes use Japanese words in my writings so if you don't understand those words, you can always Google translate them! ^_^
じゃまたね!
